Moreland with Stationary Panels

Morelands can be used in so may ways.  I recently completed a job with two windows in a spare bedroom.  When I started the design I was not even thinking about a Moreland, I drew up several different top treatments and then the morland just poped into my mind and I decided it would be perfect for the location.  The client has a TV on the wall  so I wanted it to be just a little different on the side of the TV and the Moreland just seemed to fit.

Here are a few of my designs. I don't know why but the Moreland just seemed to fit the room.

Hunter Douglas Certified Installer

John  is now a Hunter Douglas Certified Installer.
Hunter Douglas, the nation’s leading window covering manufacturer, understands that a custom window covering is only as good as its installation. With that in mind, Hunter Douglas has made a significant effort in providing ongoing installer training events to properly educate installers on the most effective and up-to-date methods of installing its innovated products, including Duette®, Silhouette®, Luminette®, Vignette®, and PowerRise, just to name a few.

Johnny recently attended the two-day Certified InstallerSM Training Event that was held in Broomfield, CO. This intensive training event, the only one of its kind in the industry, gives installers the tools they need to  install window coverings more efficient and meet many of the challenges encountered during installation.

Hunter Douglas Statement
“Our certified installers are the best in the industry,” says Andy Irwin, Hunter Douglas Senior Manager of Installer Training. “When they combine the two-day Certified InstallerSM training with our extensive online resources, which are available 24/7, we feel confident the installer is ready to tackle any situation.”

Johnny really enjoyed the time he spent with the trainers, we have been installing hard treatments for 27 years so installing was not new to us.  It was a great two days and there are tips and trick that he was able to pick up during the two day training session that we will be able to provide to our clients in the future, it was well worth the time away from the business.

Drapery Workrooms

Designing your treatment with a window specialist.  Did you know when working with a window specialist workroom they can sketch up your design to scale and add your fabric to the design.  If you are still unsure the workroom may have samples they can share or even be able to mock up the design.  Recently I had a client that wanted tab drapes but really could not visualize the design from a sketch.

Sometimes even a drawing to scale doesn't quite tell the full story. I was able to do a mock up of the design with different size tabs so she could easily see the treatment before she purchased. I used different color buttons to help with the decision.

Award Winning Design

The Vision 12 Awards competition; I was thrilled that my treatment received a award.
The treatment started out very simple; we had velvet brown panels that we were going to alter to fit another location in the customer's home. We added a 20 inch band at the bottom with a cord separating the two sections. We then added a silk panel behind the velvet panels to add some depth to the treatment.
The panels were then bishoped with beautiful tiebacks that the customer furnished.
The top's of the velvet panels were inverted pleats with buttons at the base of the pleat.  The edge of the velvet drapes had a tiny silk welt cord, and the velvet drapes were lined with the same silk fabric. The silk drapes were a brown silk that was shirred on a rod behind the iron facia that held the velvet drapes.
This really ended up being a fun project that I was very proud of. To start with a treatment that needed to be altered to fit then end up with such a statement in a room just made us all smile and best of all the client loved the finished project.
This is the finished window unit.  You can't see the left side, but you can see how this treatment added warmth to the client's entrance.
